Welcome to the Üter website.

Üter is a one-man-band with a difference. There's three of us. I am called Declan and I started Üter in about 1998 on my own and have recorded and released two singles, Vibrato (self-funded) and Tomorrow's Clowns (on OSCarr Records).

As the idea of me on stage playing along to a backing tape sounds fairly dull I have enlisted the help of Marceline Smith (token chick) and Martin Johnstone (one for the ladies) to play along with me to that backing tape. If the mood takes them and there's nothing on TV, they sometimes contribute in the studio too.

There is no big philosophy to the band, unless Martin and Marceline have one that I don't know about. It's more of a collection of opinions, tastes, senses of humour and general high moral standards expressed through the medium of music. That, and a way of avoiding having to grow up and get a proper career.

NEWS

We played a gig last Sunday. We also played another two since the last news entry but I've been too lazy to write about them.

We played with Jens Lekman, Bill Wells and Isobel Campbell at an all day event in Mono for Plan B magazine on September 28th. I've seen a seven or eight minute video of excerpts of the day which is apparently going to be on Levis' website, who sponsored the event. It might be on their website now. You can also read a couple of reviews of the gig in the October/November issue of Plan B. They say we're good.

We then played at Glasgow School Of Art on October 19th at a club called Do The Du. The other band who played are called Findo Gask and were very good. We actually played a new song at this gig too. Not a new original Üter song, but a cover of Walking With Jesus by Spacemen 3. We played this instead of My Little Underground.

And as I said, we played again on Sunday 23rd October at a thing called Glasgow Implodes in Stereo organised by a nice fella called Alistair. There were 12 other bands on and we were supposed to be about third on the bill but due to hold ups, we ended up closing the night. Sorry, if this pissed anyone off but we did go on stage two hours late too.

Radical set list changes being a rare thing in the Üter camp, here's what we played:

Ohm Sweet Ohm
Tramapoline
Tomorrow's Clowns
Walking With Jesus
Giro Day

I think we might be supporting Data Panik at The Bastille in Glasgow next month. Well, they've asked us and I said yes anyway.

End communication.
