So, it seems Winter has finally arrived. We didn’t get any snow, but instead we got freezing fog which is almost as much fun. I wandered home from town via the new supermarket and Glasgow Green and I was amazing how unfamiliar everything looked. It was also a good test for my new furry jacket, which held up brilliantly – it’s so warm. I’m glad I don’t have to draw it though.

Other than that, I have mostly been waiting for things to arrive. I have a whole bunch of new products in the post so hopefully my postman will bring them soon and I can show you. There’s still time to pick up some cards and gifts for Valentine’s Day though – I gave Mr Pancake a little upgrade so he now comes with a pretty yellow envelope! Perfect for Pancake Day too :)

This has been a confusing week. I almost didn’t buy something at the supermarket today because the use by date was February 27th and in my brain that was already past. I guess when you’re constantly planning for events in the future it’s hard to remember where you are.

But! I have been working on new things and this week I ordered some new products featuring them. The range is called Look Around because every character is based on a circle! You’ve already met the pancake but there are loads more. I even did a little logo for them so you can have a sneak peek. There’s a food-themed badge set coming soon and the rest will be appearing on various things in the next few months. Yay, new stuff.

Look what’s arrived! Wooden Bread Slice brooches were super-popular last year so I’m glad to have a new batch. These have been redrawn and are cut from a slightly thinner wood but otherwise they’re the same. I also got him a friend – the Sad Cookie brooch! They’re both even cuter than my photographs and you can get them in my shops right now.

Look, it’s my first new product of 2012 – a happy pancake card all ready for Valentine’s Day. I’ve been working on a new series of characters who are based on circles and I have lots more to show you soon. Well, it’s almost the end of 2011, which means another 12 months of what I wore drawings. I’ve decided to stop drawing them so regularly next year so it seemed like a good time to collect all the ones I’ve done so far into a zine. I’m rather pleased with the cover, which took me all of fifteen minutes and yet looks like a real book you might see in a shop.

It’s a point of honour that however busy I am, I still make my own personal Christmas cards. This year, I thought I was well organised, having found a stack of Angel Bunny Christmas tree photos while tidying up. It was only after making ten that I realised that was all there was and the rest were photos I’d used before. So I sent those to my biggest Angel Bunny fans and got on with Plan B.

I’m really pleased with Plan B – I cut out cookie ornaments from the postcards and hung them from a cut in the top of the card. Cute card and you have an ornament to keep too.

Even better, you can remove it now and there’s another little gingerbread man underneath. I just printed those on my inkjet printer.

I think I might have to make some more of these next year for the shop. What do you think?

It seems very strange to only be doing one craft fair this Winter, but it’s going to be a good one! I’m getting things ready for the Made in the Shade Holiday Hullabaloo on Saturday and if you can make it along, I’ve got some festive exclusives just for you.

For starters, I’ll have fat quarters of my fabric designs available to buy at just £6 each, cheaper than the current price on Spoonflower! They’ve been sitting around my house all year so I thought I’d give you the chance to use them. They’re all quilting cotton and great for patchwork, doll clothes, purses and more.

I’ve also been sewing up some Cookie ornaments, from my Spoonflower design. I’ve done them single sided with a felt backing and candy cane string – just £5 each and perfect for your Christmas tree.

I’ve been working on some new fabric designs recently, with the plan of getting the swatches on free shipping day. However, I could not get this Cakeify design to work. I wish I’d kept all the stages it went through so you could see the trials of repeat patterns! I finally got it to work, exactly 18 minutes after free shipping day ended. Luckily, I have lots of free Spoonflower money, thanks to all the awesome people who keep buying my fabric – there are going to be lots of gingerbread men on Christmas trees this year!

So, swatches are ordered including Hello Cakeify in the four colours above. Which is your favourite? I can’t decide between the blue and the grey. Or the pink. Sadly, there is not much chance I will receive them to check before 2-for-1 Fat Quarter Day on the 28th, but you never know.

Yesterday was apparently Cakeify day with two cute new products arriving for the shop. I’m in love with these tote bags, and will definitely be keeping one for myself. I only have a few available so snap them up.

I’ve also added Cakeify to my expanding collection of letter sets. These are becoming some of my most popular products – it’s good to know people are still sending letters.

You may remember I won a runner-up prize in Moo’s City Sticker contest? Well, I thought you might like to see what I bought with my prize money. It was actually way harder than you might imagine since I didn’t want to spend it all on business stuff, but on fun things for me.

My favourite item is my new business cards. They are double-sided – by day web designer! by night, idiot! I like them a lot and imagine they’ll be sufficiently memorable for anyone I hand them to.

I also got loads of greetings cards for my own personal use, including some with drawings of myself on them. As you do.

Plus some cool thank you cards featuring my favourite Hipstamatic photos from the last year. You should probably send me something awesome so that I can thank you with one of these.

I did also get some business-related stuff, some of which will be in the shop soon. The rest went on stickers aplenty, so much so that all orders over about £5 will be getting free stickers for the next while. Hurray!
