To-Do Lists

to do

Today I want to talk about To-do lists! I always have a to-do list on hand, as otherwise I completely forget to do things. Plus it helps keep track of my random brilliant ideas. Unfortunately, I also forget to write about 50% of the things I need to do on it, but I’m getting better.

Above is a photo of my actual current to-do list. I used to favour the back of an envelope for my lists but I found my Sun and Rain Writing Pads were pretty much perfect for me – lots of lines and lots of space. I like to split my list into mini lists of things to do, things to make, things I’m waiting for in the post etc. But I wanted to design an actual to-do list pad (you can actually see it crossed off on this list, at the top right!)

Busy Bee Organiser

Having figured out my preferences, I then designed this Busy Bee Organising Pad. It’s got separate areas for different lists plus a blank area at the bottom for doodling and freeform listing.

I only got one printed for my own use, but I’d like to sell these too (they’d make a great double pack with the writing pad!) but I want to know if they would suit YOUR to-do list style. How do you organise your tasks? Do you prefer one big list, or areas to write dates or notes?

Tell me about your to-do list, and maybe even post a photo on Flickr , or blog about your current one (leave a comment here with a link so we can see!). If I get some good comments (and you don’t all ignore me!) I’ll pick someone and send them a free notepad once they’re printed. Let’s say by June 1st.

Looking forward to reading about your to-do lists! And I’d love to hear from everyone, doesn’t matter what tasks you keep track of – personal, business or both. Thank you!

I think that to-do list is fab. Enough space for all my scribblings.

My Dad has always been a big fan of to-do lists and lives his life via his lists. I try to do them but then get a bit scared by how much I have to do and go back into sticking head in sand BUT I think if I had a pretty pad to write on, it would definitly give me the motivation to get organised :)

I love lists! And especially love crossing things off- oh the satisfaction! My personal favourite ‘To Do Lists’ are holiday ones, you know wash this, find passport/snorkel/sandals, cancel milk/papers etc
Or as we have just re modelled our home we had a massive list and now we have moved back in we have a smaller list with put up shelves/find a wardrobe/hang pictures.
I got married at the start of the month and the list then was brilliant, and often re-worked-lol.
My sister is also a fan of the ‘to do list’, when we go camping we often have an email ‘kit list’ between each other on what we need to bring or find- is that silly?
Your list pad is super cute and a great idea!
I do love a list fan!
    Much love.

At home I have a similar pad to your one with a notes bit at the bottom, it works great. I think your design looks perfect :)

I like the idea of dividing up the to-do list like this – at the moment I just use index cards that I have printed lines and boxes on, and they are quite boring compared to this. I also put all my craft-related to-do stuff in a little notebook that I call my “boredom book” – whenever I feel bored I can look there for ideas.

  7. I have a running note book of all the things I’m working on. I keep one list until everything has been crossed or it’s grown to long for the page (this has happened to me before, sadly). One thing I’ve found very helpful is to use the check boxes like progress meters – your to do item is half done, then fill in half the bubble or box. Makes it feel like you’ve accomplished more and the list doesn’t’ look as scary.

    Hi Marceline
I just wanted to let you know how I am getting on with your lovely little organising pad. It is great! I have been using the bit on the left for my main to-do list, the bit on the right for things I need to buy, and the bit at the bottom for all my crafty ideas. I’m definitely more organised with it, and it makes being organised fun!
