Or, how I finally got round to using my Spoonflower fabric. Of all the things I could have made with my fabric, it had to be a little coin purse really. They’re quick to make and look cute, and also I could do with the practice. Things didn’t go exactly as planned in that my seam allowance was way too big and so initially it looked like it wasn’t going to fit in the purse frame. But I shoved it in anyway and actually it gave it a really nice puffy look so it all worked out in the end. I used Lisa’s great tutorial if you want to have a go yourself.

My feeling that the cotton was a little thin is even stronger now – it’s nowhere near as thick as most of the Japanese cottons I use which isn’t ideal for something like this purse, and also makes it tricky to find a lining fabric that doesn’t show through. Yes, I could have used interfacing but who can be bothered? It still sews up very well and I’m happy with how it turned out. Maybe next time I will go for a coloured background as well.

I’m not quite sure what I’ll be doing with this purse – I guess I will use it for a while and see how it holds up to daily wear and tear. UPDATE: it’s in the shop now.

Not much else going on around here at the moment – still busy with a design client. I do have a whole heap of ideas though, which I hope to get working on in the next few weeks.
