Tokyo Shopping Guide: Loft

Christmas @ Loft

Loft is probably my favourite Japanese shop overall, as it incorporates lots of my favourite things – stationery, homeware, crazy cute stuff and bento. Pitched as a department store for the younger, cooler crowd, it mixes lots of cute fun items, tech goods and stationery with more general practical office supplies and kitchenware.

Stationery fans will be overwhelmed by the racks and racks of cute diaries and schedule books, sticker sets, deco tape, writing paper, notebooks, stampers, pens, clips, book covers and more in designs ranging from minimalist to hyper cute.

The homeware/kitchenware floor is also a definite must-see, with aisles full of stuff to cute up your house, whether it’s a bento set for your lunch, teapots and mugs for breakfast time or some adorable cushions. You’ll also find lots of toys and games with a good mix of characters – check out Nanoblocks (it’s like teeny weeny Lego) for some great gifts. The bigger stores also have big ranges of cool headphones, earbuds and speakers, iPhone accessories and other supercool electronics.

Basically, Loft is unmissable – there are few other places where you can buy a Rilakkuma blanket, your ideal diary, some headphones, an adorable new mug and a piece of the latest Tokyo craze all in one place. Open late too!

How to get there

The Shibuya branch is close to the main Shibuya Crossing. Take the Main or Hachiko Exit (West Side) from JR Shibuya station and cross at the main crossing where Starbucks is straight ahead. Loft is in a lane to your left in between the Seibu stores A and B.. There is also a branch in Seibu in Ikebukuro which is part of JR Ikebukuro station.

    Hi there,

I’m on my last day in Tokyo here. I think Lonely Planet recommended it, but I had mistakened it for LABI. I only found Loft yesterday and was determined to devote most of my time there on my last day! Their stickers are so cute!
